Horizon recently attended the annual ANGA COM convention in Germany. ANGA COM is Europe’s largest leading business platform for Broadband, Television and Online, and takes place every year in the beautiful city of Cologne on the banks of the river Rhine.
The event attracts a global audience and this year saw a record attendance of over 23,000 participants from over 80 countries, proving what an important event the convention has become in the Telecommunications calendar.
The event was a great chance to hear some of the leading voices in the Telecommunications market speak first-hand. The lineup included C-level representatives from Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Deutsche Glasfaser, Deutsche GigaNetz, Tele Columbus, Unsere Grüne Glasfaser, NetCologne, M-net, ProSiebenSat.1, RTL Television, Amazon Prime Video, UFA, Sky and DAZN.

In the “Homes Connected” installation phase, subscribers are provided with simple instructions to install the last few meters of the FTTH connection within their properties as they please. This can be done either by the home or business owner themselves or by a tradesman of their choice.
After much debate, Nikoletta concluded that “Homes Connected” should be the new goal to strive for, as this takes into account not only the FTTH coverage rate, but also the penetration and take-up rate of how many end consumers are using the service.
“Homes activated” marks the final stage in the FTTH deployment process, in which customers subscribe to the service and activate the internet within their homes. This will enable the customer to enjoy high-speed internet and other bandwidth demanding services.
Meanwhile, our founder Jeffrey was busy getting some very positive feedback on our new branding, including some great comments on his eye-catching on-brand green suit that perfectly complemented our new brand colours!
When not living and breathing the brand, Jeffrey managed to put together his five main points from the event.
Fibre Expansion continues to lead. Fibre optic networks stole the show once again, setting the stage for future-proof connectivity with their unbeatable speed and reliability.
Navigating Regulations Together: Regulatory talks were another key theme of the event, emphasising the importance of collaboration between stakeholders to navigate hurdles and fast-track broadband rollout
Innovative Solutions for Last Mile Connectivity: From fixed wireless to satellite internet, exploring innovative ways to bridge the last-mile gap will help close the digital divide.

Power of Partnerships: Collaboration was the name of the game, with telecom giants, equipment vendors and local communities teaming up to drive innovation and speed up deployment.
Sustainability in Spotlight: ANGA COM highlighted the industry’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, from energy-efficient technology to emission-conscious deployment methods.
Once again ANGA COM 2024 proved that together we’re unstoppable in our mission to boost broadband connectivity and unleash the full potential of inclusive, equitable and accessible broadband for all.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
